MEET THE PRESS
WITH SUCCESS

MEDIA TRAINING WORKSHOPS

Media interviews represent the classic risk-reward conundrum.

Many media organizations have cultivated massive audience — enabling you to share your message at a scale that would otherwise be expensive or impossible. But while a successful media interview can build awareness and even drive revenue, a mistake can be deadly to your reputation and business.

Having a media expert as your coach is like having a "cheat code" to a successful interview.

Our in-person and virtual media training workshops enable executives and managers to "Meet the Press" with success.

WHY YOU CAN TRUST US

Dean Foust has 35+ years of experience in business communications. His 23 years as a writer, editor, and bureau chief for BusinessWeek magazine give him deep insights into the interaction between business executives and the media.

During this period, Dean also made upwards of 200 TV and radio appearances on CNN, BBC TV, CNBC, Fox Business News and other leading networks — giving him first-hand  knowledge of what works on TV.

As an executive media coach, Dean has helped prepare clients for appearances on top news networks such as CNN, CNBC, and Euronews and for interviews with The New York Times and other top media organizations.

Engaging a veteran journalist like Dean lets you benefit from the professional courtesies that many reporters extend to PR practitioners and coaches who have walked in their shoes.

HOW WE WORK

We offer an array of formats tailored to each client’s timetables and schedules, including group workshops either in-person or online. The online workshops run 3.5 hours (with breaks) and the in-person workshops run either half- or full-day in length, depending on the desired level of detail.

Our group workshops mix interactive discussion, exercises, breakouts, and on-camera rehearsal and coaching. After each session, each participant receives a video of their rehearsal and a personalized media skills assessment.

We also offer follow-up support so clients may share clips of their post-training interviews for feedback and ongoing skill development.

We provide flexibility in scheduling to accommodate our clients’ busy and unpredictable schedules.

MEET THE COACH

Dean Foust is an award-winning communications executive who helps CEOs, senior executives — and the companies they lead — become world-class communicators.

He has provided media coaching for executives who appeared on CNN, CNBC, and Euronews; who were profiled or quoted in The New York Times, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, and Fast Company; and whose expert articles were published in The Financial Times, and the Harvard Business Review.

Foust brings a unique combination of media and business experience that few other consultants can match. During his 23 years as a writer, editor and bureau chief for BusinessWeek magazine, Dean interviewed two U.S. Presidents, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan (bi-monthly for five years), and thousands of CEOs and C-Suite leaders including Peter Drucker, Warren Buffett, Colin Powell, and Ross Perot.

Dean made upwards of 200 TV and radio appearances on networks including CNN, CNN International, BBC World News, BBC TV, CNBC, MSNBC, C-SPAN, Fox Business News, PBS’s News Hour with Jim Lehrer and was a regular on PBS’s This Week in Business roundtable discussion show with Economist Editor-in-Chief Zanny Minton Beddoes and Fortune magazine Editor Andy Serwer.

As the head of executive communications for UPS, Dean created the messaging platforms that successfully repositioned UPS from a perceived victim of chnological disruptions to a disruptor itself. The narrative: that through its investments in AI,  drones, and autonomous vehicles, UPS helped customers “future-proof” their supply chains — and businesses.

The company’s CEO and senior executives delivered this narrative on CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg TV, CGTN (China), and other leading broadcast networks. Dean also supported UPS executives with this narrative as they spoke and gave media interviews at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the APAC CEO Summit, Mobile World Congress Americas, the Fortune Global Forum, the CECP CEO Investor Conference, the Consumer Electronics Show, Europe’s Web Summit, and The Economist’s Year Ahead event.
